Occupational Therapy Services provides important evaluation and training to elderly, recently injured or disabled drivers. Prior to an on-the-road assessment with our specially equipped vehicle, an occupational therapist performs an in-clinic safety evaluation that includes visual perception and reaction time. This program provides assurance to the patient, patient’s family and physician that the patient is safe to drive.

Occupational therapists evaluate and treat patients with:

Therapy Programs and Tools
Integrated Therapy
We use the Dynavision D2 for rehabilitation related to visual, cognitive and motor skills. That may include rehabilitation from stroke or traumatic brain injury, improving low vision or retraining for driving. The D2 is appropriate for individuals of all ages, helping with gross motor skills, decision making, concentration under stress, reaction time, peripheral awareness, balance and functional mobility.
Our therapists use the 2000 Series Cockpit Driving Simulator to evaluate individuals who are elderly, recently injured or disabled and make sure they are safe to drive. The simulator tests vision, reaction time and memory with a variety of exercises and scenarios.
Pediatric Occupational Therapy
Pediatric occupational therapists evaluate and treat patients with:
- Self-care skills including feeding, dressing and grooming
- Hand strengthening and coordination skills required for activities such as cutting with scissors, coloring, writing, buttoning, using feeding utensils, etc.
- Sensory motor processing and integration
- Upper extremity (shoulder, arm and hand) splinting
- Recommendation, training and use of adaptive equipment
- Neurodevelopmental treatment
- Visual motor and handwriting skills
