For the Media
Media Relations Contact
To contact a member of the media relations team, please call (406) 752-5111.
Logan Health media relations staff are available to assist journalists by providing information, arranging interviews and accommodating other requests. To facilitate this process, while protecting patient confidentiality and minimizing disruption to patient care, following are guidelines for journalists.
Interviews and Photography
To arrange interviews with Logan Health staff and clinicians, please call (406) 752-5111 to be connected to a media relations staff member.
Contact a Logan Health media relations staff member in advance to visit our campus. All reporters and photographers must be accompanied by a media relations staff member while on the Logan Health campus.
Logan Health media relations staff will make every effort to fill media requests for information or interviews and to notify departments prior to arrival of media representatives. Media representatives who do not make appropriate arrangements prior to arrival will not necessarily be granted the right to film or interview within Logan Health facilities. In addition, Logan Health media relations staff reserve the right to decline participation in any story and/or refer the media to another appropriate source in the community.
Patient Conditions
Our staff follows the American Hospital Association’s guidelines in protecting patient privacy. If a patient has not objected to be included in the facility directory and the media has asked for the patient by his or her first and last name, a general one-word condition can be released to the media without valid authorization. Only the following terms can be provided without the patient’s written consent.
Undetermined: Patient awaiting physician assessment.
Good: Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious and comfortable. Indicators are excellent.
Fair: Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious but may be uncomfortable. Indicators are favorable.
Serious: Vital signs may be unstable and not within normal limits. Patient is acutely ill, indicators are questionable.
Critical: Vital signs are unstable and not within normal limits. Patient may be unconscious, indicators are unfavorable.
Treated and released: Patient received treatment, but was not admitted. Information about the date of release or where the patient went upon release cannot be provided without valid authorization.
Treated and transferred: Patient received treatment and was transferred to a different facility. Information about the date of transfer or where the patient was transferred cannot be provided without valid authorization.
If a patient has objected to be included in the facility directory, no person outside of the staff caring for the patient, the patient and his/her designated family members may be given information about the patient’s condition or acknowledgment that the patient is at the facility.
