Therapy Programs and Tools

Speech and Swallowing
LSVT LOUD is an intensive speech therapy program to help individuals with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions. Using exercises that strengthen the muscles of the voice box, our speech therapists help individuals make improvements in speaking loudly and clearly.

SPEAK OUT!® is a speech therapy program specifically designed to address the voice and swallowing challenges commonly experienced by people living with Parkinson’s Disease.  SPEAK OUT!® includes 12 individual speech therapy sessions, scheduled three times per week for four weeks. Participants learn to speak with INTENT, which has been shown to be effective for Parkinson’s patients to regain and maintain their voice and swallowing abilities.

The LOUD Crowd® is a group for people with Parkinson’s Disease to practice and maintain their communication skills in a group setting. Those interested in joining the group must first complete individualized speech therapy following the SPEAK OUT!® protocol in order to be familiar with the techniques and tasks utilized in The LOUD Crowd®.

Mobility and Movement
Based on the principles of LSVT LOUD, LSVT BIG is a physical and occupation therapy program that helps to improve limb and body movement, speed and balance for people with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions.

Our therapists use the Biodex Balance System SD as a tool to help individuals improve balance, increase agility and develop muscle tone. It administers tests to assess balance and aids therapists in determining the appropriate treatment for each individual, whether they are experiencing a vestibular or neurological disorder or are at risk of falling.

Our physical and occupational therapists incorporate Parkinson Wellness Recovery to help individuals improve mobility and safety. Parkinson Wellness Recovery takes advantage of the techniques of neuroplasticity, the ways in which the brain creates new neural pathways to compensate and adapt.
