Driving a vehicle offers an individual freedom and mobility, which are important for maintaining an active lifestyle. This program assesses a person’s driving fitness and provides rehabilitation to maintain safe driving skills. Logan Health’s Driver Rehabilitation Program is administered by a Driver Rehabilitation Professional (DRP).
The program determines a person’s fitness to safely drive a vehicle due to:
- Aging
- Dementia
- Diabetes
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Prescribed medications
- Stroke
- Traumatic brain injury
- Other physical and cognitive challenges
During the two-hour evaluation Logan Health Occupational Therapist Caroline Lawhead will assess a person’s cognition, physical skills, vision, reaction speed and other factors required for safe driving. After the evaluation the therapist will make recommendations regarding fitness to drive and will either create an individualized rehab plan and/or provide alternative solutions for transportation.
