What is occupational therapy? Any activity that “occupies” our time including everyday activities like getting dressed, eating meals and grooming ourselves. When a person needs help doing daily activities (occupations) occupational therapists are trained to solve issues for people of all ages so they can do things independently.
Who needs occupational therapy? People of all ages with an illness, injury, trauma, chronic condition or a disability that need help doing everyday activities and the other occupations they want to do will benefit from occupational therapy. Occupational therapists help people learn or relearn how to do these activities.
Where to receive occupational therapy? Logan Health offers occupational therapy to inpatients at each of our hospitals to help patients during their recovering from surgery, injury and other medical conditions. We also offer occupational therapy at most of our rehabilitation clinics for outpatients.
How to receive occupational therapy? If you or someone you know has difficulty with everyday activities, occupational therapy may be prescribed by a family practitioner to help a person get back on track and do the things that they want to do. Ask your primary care clinician about a referral for occupational therapy services for you or your child.
