WHAT IS BIG SKY CARE CONNECT?
Big Sky Care Connect (BSCC) – Montana’s Health Information Exchange (HIE) – is a statewide network which allows the health information of Montanans to be securely shared. It provides medical professionals access to accurate, up-to-date patient information, which helps providers deliver better informed, higher quality care across care settings. No matter where you’re seeking treatment in the state of Montana, providers can access your health information at the point of care if they are a part of the BSCC network.

IS MY INFORMATION PROTECTED?
Yes, your information is protected and HIPAA compliant. The HIE is a modern solution for modern healthcare. With BSCC your data is secure, confidential, encrypted and provider access to patient information is restricted and audited.

THE CHOICE IS PERSONAL
If a provider participates in the BSCC Network, your health information is accessible through BSCC. Just like your health records at a medical clinic or health care organization, only those involved in your care can access your information through the HIE. In an emergency, where delay of medical attention could put your health in serious jeopardy, a provider can access your information through BSCC.

WHAT IF I WANT TO OPT OUT?
There are great benefits to both you and your medical providers in being part of BSCC. Your providers rely on current, accurate, and complete information to provide you with quality care. We encourage you to discuss any potential opt-out request with your provider regarding the extent to which you do or don’t want your health information shared, and how your provider can accommodate the request.
