Logan Health Women’s Care will begin providing gynecologic oncology services in the Flathead Valley on January 13. The new service will be provided by the Billings Clinic – Logan Health Gynecologic Oncology Outreach Team, including Evelyn Fleming, MD; Dandi Huang, MD; and Bradford Whitcomb, MD.

With over 40 years of combined women’s health experience, this team of highly-trained, compassionate and experienced specialists from Billings will provide women with known gynecologic cancer personalized treatment alongside the team at Logan Health Women’s Care.

Dr. Fleming looks forward to providing this important service. “It’s well established that when women with gynecological cancers receive care from sub- specialty trained physicians, known as gynecologic oncologists, they not only receive the most up-to-date care, but it actually improves their overall survival. It will be an honor to be able to provide specialized care to the women of this region.”

In the United States, gynecologic cancers make up 11% of new cancer diagnoses in women. This collaborative team will be able to provide care for pelvic cancers or conditions such as cervical, endometrial or vulvar cancer; ovary and fallopian tube masses; and recurrent gynecologic cancer.

This new service will bring women in the Flathead Valley local subspecialty care from fellowship-trained gynecologic oncology specialists. In doing this, they will greatly reduce the need to travel long distances for this vital service, helping to keep patients and their families close to home for this care.

Dr. Thomas deHoop, an OB/GYN at Logan Health Women’s Care, looks forward to the collaboration for that very reason. “For as long as I have been practicing here, we have had to send patients to Billings or outside of the state. It will be much better for patient care to be able to keep the majority of cases here in the valley.”
