On August 9, the 18th annual A.L.E.R.T./Betty Woods Memorial Golf Tournament took place at Village Greens Golf Course, raising over $30,000 to benefit A.L.E.R.T. and the Betty Woods Emergency Services Endowment. This year, the Logan Health Foundation, in collaboration with Kalispell Toyota, partnered with the Woods family to award more than $18,000 in grants to eight local EMS teams. The event’s success was made possible by 25 dedicated volunteers and 24 enthusiastic teams of golfers.
The funds raised will directly support the Flathead Valley EMS teams, who are crucial to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. The annual tournament honors the legacy of Betty Ann Woods, a beloved Logan Health Medical Center employee of 28 years and a respected member of the Flathead Valley first-responder community. Participants and volunteers united with a shared commitment to preserving her memory and making a positive impact on the lives of others.
This year, the following grants were awarded in Betty’s honor:
- $4,745 to Three River EMS for a McGrath MAC Video Laryngoscope, spare battery, carrying case, and a set of single-use blades.
- $1,830 to Kalispell Fire Department for new stretch mattresses and equipment mounts.
- $3,000 to Evergreen Fire Rescue for two Cyanokits, used for treating smoke inhalation or potential cyanide exposure during house fires.
- $2,499 to South Kalispell Volunteer Fire Department for 15 fully equipped medium-sized Lightning X Medical bags.
- $4,455 to Lakeside QRU for three AEDs for their rescue team.
- $718 to Swan Mission Search & Rescue for two Captos, which support rope rescue equipment.
- $1,309 to Columbia Falls Fire Department for updating equipment and supplies in jump kits.
- $376 to Bad Rock Volunteer Fire & QRU for two SAM Pelvic Splints and one Slischman Traction Splint.
