Douglas Berglund, MD, FACS, FASCRS, joined the Logan Health Surgical team as a colorectal surgeon in January 2024 after working nearly 30 years in the Sanford Health System in Bismarck, North Dakota. Dr. Berglund received his undergraduate degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and completed medical school at St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis and his colon and rectal surgery fellowship with the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Berglund specializes in diseases of the colon and rectum including colon and rectal cancer, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease, colon polyps, rectal prolapse, anal fissures, fistulas, hemorrhoids, and infections of rectum and anus. During his time in North Dakota, he served as the president of the North Dakota chapter of the American College of Surgeons and the chairman of the North Dakota Cancer Coalition. He also served as a clinical associate professor of surgery at the University of North Dakota. In addition, he is a da Vinci robotic surgery proctor.
Outside of work, Dr. Berglund enjoys hunting, fishing, traveling, skiing, hiking, motorcycling and being a grandparent.
