Accepting new patientsRyan Roop, MD, is a medical oncologist and hematologist who provides comprehensive care for patients with cancer and blood disorders. He was drawn to oncology early in his medical training by the opportunity to support patients through challenging times while treating complex diseases.
A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Roop earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry before attending the University of Arizona in Tucson for medical school. He completed his internal medicine residency at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where his experiences caring for patients with cancer further solidified his interest in oncology. Dr. Roop completed his fellowship in hematology and oncology at Washington University, where he also served as chief fellow. During his fellowship, he conducted clinical research in breast cancer and lymphoma, gaining insight into the development of new cancer treatments.
Dr. Roop values practicing in a community setting, where he can focus on building relationships with patients and providing care for a wide range of cancers.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Roop enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and exploring the outdoors. He particularly enjoys downhill skiing, while his family also enjoys hiking and backpacking.
