Biography

Rhett Shirley, MD, joined the Logan Health team in March of 2025. He practices at Logan Health Endocrinology & Infectious Disease and specializes in the treatment of general infectious diseases including HIV and Hepatitis C, as well as tropical medicine.  After earning his medical degree from The Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Shirley completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  Following his fellowship, he worked as a physician in Kenya at Kijabe Mission Hospital for two years before returning to the United States. He then practiced infectious disease medicine and internal medicine in South Carolina, where he started an infectious disease fellowship program. Dr. Shirley also completed tropical medicine training at the Gorgas Diploma Course in Lima, Peru. Outside of work, Dr. Shirley enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, running and skiing. He also enjoys reading and playing the guitar.
