Rachel Brennan, MD, returned home to Montana to join the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Team at Logan Health in 2022. Her goal is to grow the program and ensure the children of Montana can stay close to home with their family and within their community while receiving the same excellent care experienced at large, pediatric hospitals in other states.
Growing up in Helena, she wanted to be a doctor or a rock star since the 3rd grade, but her classical violin training made her medical career a more promising choice. Following medical school and pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins, she headed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to complete her training. With dual board certification in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology, she spent more than a decade at St. Jude caring for patients with solid tumors, including rare tumors, retinoblastoma and Wilms Tumor. She has additional expertise in writing and leading childhood cancer protocols and research, and is an active consultant with the Children’s Oncology Group. She has presented her work in peer-reviewed journals as well as national and international conferences.
Her passion for sharing her knowledge reaches beyond her medical colleagues, because the most important discussions happen at the bedside. She is quick with a smile, but just as passionate about finding and conveying hope in the quieter moments where challenges abound. Each medical journey is unique, and Dr. Brennan focuses on her partnership with the patient and families to educate, support, and advocate for wellness.
Dr. Brennan and her husband are thrilled to be back home, and their three children agree that there is something very special about the outdoors, community, and being close to family here in Montana.
