Accepting new patientsGabor Bodonyi-Kovacs, MD, is a nephrologist specializing in kidney disease, transplant nephrology and complex conditions affecting kidney function. His clinical expertise includes kidney transplantation, novel immunosuppressive therapies, acute kidney injury, renal replacement therapies and cardiorenal syndrome.
Dr. Bodonyi-Kovacs earned his medical degree from Albert Szent-Gyorgyi Medical University in Hungary. He completed his internal medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University, followed by clinical and research fellowships in nephrology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School. He then completed a transplant nephrology fellowship at the University of Virginia, where he also earned a Master of Science in clinical research. Before joining the medical staff, Dr. Bodonyi-Kovacs served as an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension and Section of Transplant Medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
His research interests include genetic factors associated with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease and hypertension, as well as factors that influence kidney transplant outcomes.
