Frederick Barton, MSN, ENP-C, FNP-C, joined the Logan Health medical staff in February 2025. He practices at Logan Health – Shelby where he specializes in emergency medicine. After earning his Master of Science in Nursing at Columbia University in 2018, he completed his Master of Science in Nursing in emergency and family medicine from Emory University in 2019. He followed this training with a fellowship in critical access emergency medicine at Carilion Clinic in Virginia.
Fred is Board Certified in family and emergency medicine and serves on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (AAENP), and is the AAENP Director of International Outreach and the Coordinator of Nursing Education for Techies Without Borders. He has been the recipient of the American Association of Emergency Nurse Practitioners inaugural award for excellence in advocacy, has spoken at numerous conferences and volunteered towards a one-week mission trip to Barracabamaja, Colombia for the surgical repair of cleft palates. His experience ranges across critical access and rural medicine, austere and international medicine, and point of care ultrasound.
Fred lives in Oregon in the greater Portland metro area. He most recently was the sole APP at Providence St. Vincent’s emergency department and worked at a critical access emergency department in Bandon, Oregon. He is currently an adjunct professor at Seattle University School of Nursing. He enjoys mountain biking, trail running, caving, canyoneering and traveling.
