Accepting new patientsDouglas Berglund, MD, FACS, FASCRS, is a colorectal surgeon with more than 30 years of experience specializing in diseases and conditions of the colon and rectum. His areas of expertise include colon and rectal cancer, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease, colon polyps, rectal prolapse, anal fissures, fistulas, hemorrhoids and infections of the rectum and anus.
Dr. Berglund earned his undergraduate degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, and his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, followed by fellowship training in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Minnesota. Throughout his career, Dr. Berglund has held leadership and academic positions, including serving as president of the North Dakota chapter of the American College of Surgeons, chairman of the North Dakota Cancer Coalition and clinical associate professor of surgery at the University of North Dakota. He is also a da Vinci robotic surgery proctor.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Berglund enjoys hunting, fishing, traveling, skiing, hiking, motorcycling and spending time with his grandchildren.
