Clayton Vaughan, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon dedicated to restoring mobility, function and quality of life for patients facing complex orthopedic injuries. With advanced expertise in fracture care and joint reconstruction, Dr. Vaughan specializes in treating traumatic injuries to the pelvis and upper and lower extremities, as well as performing joint replacement surgeries for the hip, knee and shoulder. He also provides care for patients with non-unions, malunions and fracture-related infections.

Dr. Vaughan’s medical journey began at Texas A&M University, followed by medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas, and went on to pursue specialized fellowship training in Orthopedic Trauma and Adult Reconstruction at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Before his fellowship, Dr. Vaughan served in the United States Navy Medical Corps. As an orthopedic surgeon at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton and the Navy’s flagship trauma center at Camp Lejeune, he provided care to active-duty service members, veterans and civilian trauma patients. This experience shaped his commitment to excellence in trauma care.

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Vaughan enjoys exploring Montana’s great outdoors with his wife, four children and their two dogs, Bear and Moose. Whether hiking, skiing, fly-fishing or river rafting, he embraces the same energy and focus in life that he brings to his practice.
