Logan Health Medical Center has earned national accreditation for its virtual care program, becoming the first in the Western United States, and the first in Montana.
This accreditation reflects Logan Health’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care to patients no matter where they live. The recognition highlights the health system’s leadership in expanding access across Montana’s rural and frontier communities.
In a state where distance and weather can create significant barriers to care, Logan Health has built a hybrid model that blends in-person and video visits. This approach ensures patients receive face-to-face care when clinically necessary, while video visits provide flexibility, convenience and timely access when appropriate.
In 2025, Logan Health providers used the virtual care program to make a significant impact across Montana, delivering:
-
- 22,000 video visits
- 3.4 million miles of avoided travel for patients
- Care from more than 200 clinicians representing 25 specialties
- Virtual connections with patients in 201 different Montana towns
The highest-utilizing virtual care services included Behavioral Health, Genetics, Pediatric specialty care, Cancer care and Pain Management, areas where access to specialists can be limited in rural communities.
“This accreditation validates the work our teams have done to ensure virtual care at Logan Health meets the highest national standards for quality and safety,” said Mandy Pokorny, Executive Director of Virtual Care. “For many Montanans, a video visit can mean the difference between getting timely care and delaying treatment due to travel challenges. We want patients to feel confident that the care they receive virtually is held to the same rigorous standards as in-person visits.”
A key differentiator of Logan Health’s telehealth program is its high-touch patient support model. Patients receive digital navigation assistance, individualized pre-visit test calls and personalized preparation to ensure they feel comfortable and confident using video technology.
Clinician leaders say the accreditation strengthens continuity of care and improves patient outcomes. “Video visits allow us to stay connected with patients between in-person appointments and reduce gaps in care,” said Julie Campbell, MD, pediatric rheumatologist and Telehealth Medical Director. “This recognition affirms that we are delivering safe, effective care through technology while keeping patients at the center of everything we do.”
Patients continue to report strong satisfaction with the program. One recent survey respondent shared, “I live a significant distance from Logan Health. Telehealth is a wonderful option for appointments and really helps me save time, energy and money by letting me see the provider in my home setting.”
As Logan Health continues its integration with Billings Clinic, new opportunities are emerging to share specialty expertise statewide using video, further strengthening access to care throughout the region.
With accreditation now in place, Logan Health will continue expanding video-enabled services, advancing digital equity and ensuring patients across Montana can access high-quality care, close to home.
