Marni Allen, MS, FNP began working as a nurse practitioner in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in 2006. During that time she has become skilled at providing individualized, complex medical care to pediatric patients and their families with hematology and oncology diagnoses, caring for their physical health while supporting their journey on the way to their “new normal” after diagnosis. Ms. Allen has experience in obtaining funding for programs that enhance the patient experience, including initiatives such as music therapy, integrating specialized physical therapy, respect of culture, and the introduction of the Adolescent and Young Adult Nurse Navigator role. She previously participated in childhood cancer research within the Children’s Oncology Group. During her registered nurse career, she cared for adult oncology patients and was on the ground level of the developing world of cancer genetics. As a nurse practitioner, Ms. Allen provided family practice services to patients in rural Idaho with limited access to medical care and was also a nurse practitioner in pediatric neurology.
These experiences benefit Ms. Allen’s unique role at Logan Health Children’s when she joined in 2021. In addition to providing specialized care to pediatric hematology/oncology patients in the inpatient, outpatient and outreach settings, she continues her passion of seeking to enhance services that continue to ensure quality, safety and enhance the experience of Montana’s youngest citizens facing life changing diagnoses.
Outside of work, you can catch her exploring the great outdoors on hiking trails and rivers, photographing wildlife and nature settings. She particularly enjoys observing and photographing bears.
