Benjamin Ward, MD, joined Logan Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in September 2013. Dr. Ward earned his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina. He completed his internship in general surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and his orthopedic surgery residency in the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program. He was appointed administrative chief resident during his final year. In the year before joining Northwest Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, he accepted a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the Taos Orthopaedic Institute in Taos, New Mexico, and was an orthopedic staff surgeon with Holy Cross Hospital in Taos. His training has provided him with extensive knowledge and experience in modern treatment of sports injuries, including ACL and meniscus tears of the knee, and rotator cuff and labral tears of the shoulder. He also has extensive training in general orthopedics treating musculoskeletal trauma, arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions. Dr. Ward, a graduate of Dartmouth College, served as a ski patroller during his undergraduate years and was a downhill ski race course volunteer for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. In his free time, he enjoys alpine and telemark skiing, biking, photography and backpacking with his family.
