Logan Health is enhancing breast care in Northwest Montana with the addition of a new Trident Specimen Imager, funded through Carol’s Fund at the Logan Health Foundation.
The advanced technology allows physicians to image biopsy and surgical tissue samples instantly at the point of care, improving accuracy, reducing delays, and enhancing the overall patient experience.
Carol’s Fund was established by Dr. James Bonnet in honor of his sister, Carol Ann Bonnet, who faced breast cancer with grace and courage. Guided in part by a community advisory board of breast cancer survivors, the fund supports meaningful, patient-centered improvements in women’s health.
The Trident imager enables real-time specimen imaging during procedures, eliminating the need to transport samples to another room and wait for results. This leads to shorter procedures, less time under anesthesia, and greater comfort for patients.
“For patients, this means less time in a vulnerable position and faster answers during what can be a very stressful experience,” said Dr. Melissa Kaptanian. “For our care teams, it allows us to make immediate, informed decisions that improve both efficiency and outcomes.”
Additional benefits include improved image quality for radiologists and surgeons, faster confirmation of biopsy samples, and increased capacity for breast imaging services that help reduce delays across the care continuum.
This investment reflects both a critical clinical need and the continued commitment of Carol’s Fund to improving care for patients close to home.
