Accepting new patientsJames Cromie, MD, FACS, is a general and trauma surgeon with expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He specializes in abdominal wall reconstruction, gastrointestinal surgery and endocrine surgery, with particular interests in complex ventral hernia repair and foregut surgery.
Dr. Cromie earned his bachelor’s degree in biology and biochemistry from the University of Colorado Boulder and his medical degree from the University of Colorado Denver, where he also completed his surgical residency. His clinical interests include anti-reflux procedures, hiatal hernia repair and the treatment of esophageal disorders such as achalasia. He also has specialized experience performing transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF), an endoscopic treatment option for patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Dr. Cromie has received multiple teaching awards and has a strong interest in nursing education and developing streamlined care pathways that improve the quality of patient care. He is also committed to increasing access to surgical care in rural communities, both in the United States and internationally, and has worked in areas of need around the world.
Dr. Cromie was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by his mother, who was a nurse.
