WHITEFISH, MT – June 1, 2026 – Logan Health – Whitefish will begin a planned facility improvement project this summer to upgrade some of its heating, venting and air conditioning (HVAC) mechanical and chilled water system, reinforcing its commitment to providing safe, modern, and high-quality care for the community.
The project will take place from June 19 through August 3 and will be completed in three phases to ensure continued access to essential surgical services throughout the duration of the work.
“This project represents more than a necessary upgrade—it reflects our ongoing investment in the health and well-being of the communities we serve,” said Jon Amick, DO, Chief Medical Officer at Logan Health – Whitefish. “We are taking proactive steps to ensure our facility remains reliable, comfortable, and equipped to meet patient needs for years to come.”
Phased Approach to Maintain Care Access
To minimize disruption, at least one operating room (OR) suite will always remain open:
- Phase 1 (June 19 – July 3): One OR suite will temporarily close. Four of five OR suites will remain open.
- Phase 2 (July 10 – August 3): Four OR suites will be temporarily closed. One OR suite will remain open to support emergency procedures and C-sections.
- Phase 3 (Beginning August 3): Four OR suites will reopen, restoring the majority of surgical capacity while the final suite is completed.
The timing of the project was carefully selected to coincide with historically lower surgical volumes during the summer months.
Enhancements to Support Long-Term Care Delivery
The new HVAC system will replace equipment nearing the end of its service life and will include new chilled water plant, engineered air handling unit (AHU) modifications, upgraded hardware and software (BAS) controls, and devices to improve temperature consistency and efficiency throughout the surgical environment.
In addition to the HVAC improvements, the project will include several upgrades to the surgical and surrounding areas:
- Installation of new sterile processing washers
- Replacement of flooring in the OR hallway
- Installation of new doors for all OR suites
Continuity of Patient Care
To ensure patients continue to receive timely surgical care, Logan Health – Whitefish is partnering closely with Logan Health Medical Center (LHMC). During portions of the project, procedures will be performed at LHMC OR North, utilizing Logan Health – Whitefish surgeons and care teams.
Patients scheduled for procedures during this time have been notified of any location changes and will continue to receive coordinated, personalized care.
Urgent and emergent surgical needs will continue to be evaluated and addressed on a case-by-case basis, ensuring each patient receives appropriate and timely treatment.
“Our teams are working closely together to ensure a seamless experience for patients,” Amick said. “Communication and flexibility will remain our top priorities as we support each individual’s care throughout this process.”
