ACS LogosCongratulations to oncology team members Brandy Thornberry, RN, Jenna LaRose, RN, Pharmacist Poppy Wilson and Clinical Nurse Director Leah Scaramuzzo for their publication in the August edition of the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing (CJON)!

Their article is entitled, “Standardizing Liposomal Doxorubicin Administration: Titration Protocol“. While working in the infusion suite, team members noticed an increase in infusion-related reactions while administering the first and second treatments of a drug called liposomal doxorubicin. Upon reviewing the package insert, they could not find a standardized process or clear guidelines for administering. To address this, the unit-based council team developed a titration protocol to standardize administration of the medication, and this resulted in a decrease of infusion-related reactions while improving staff confidence during administration. Members of the Oncology Nursing Society can access the article by logging in, and for non-members, access to the full article is available for a fee.

We thank these oncology team members for their innovation, expertise, and dedication to patient safety and quality of care. Their publication in this nationwide journal will have a lasting impact on oncology teams administering this medication, as well as the patients they serve who depend on their expert care.
