Each summer, the Eagle Bend Ladies Golf Association swaps scorecards for a greater mission. Their annual Swing Fore a Sister tournament blends the thrill of golf with a heartfelt commitment: raising funds to enhance breast cancer care across the Flathead Valley.

For 16 years, their efforts have raised more than $400,000 for Logan Health’s Save a Sister program, helping women in the community access and afford life-saving screenings and coordinated care. Save a Sister is a joint initiative from Logan Health and the Flathead City/County Health Department that helps lessen the impact of breast cancer in our community. Since its founding in 2008, Save a Sister has been a lifeline for women across Northwest Montana, providing critical breast health services to those in need. Through community generosity, Save a Sister has helped fund over 1,300 mammograms and ultrasounds, as well as hundreds of biopsies and lymphedema garments for local women.

“Dedication, commitment, camaraderie, and fun,” said this year’s Swing Fore a Sister Tournament chairwoman, Bernadette King. “We’re just women uplifting other women and working towards a cure. We swing with a purpose and drive with hope.”

This year, 26 teams teed off on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, for a day filled with friendly competition, and fun. The theme, “Birdie Par-Tee,” set a festive tone as participants celebrated life while supporting their friends, family, and all women in the Flathead Valley affected by breast cancer.

“What a celebration of strength, resilience, and community!” added Donna Lawson, annual participant and the 2026 Tournament Chair. “It was a very inspiring and uplifting event.”

Thanks to the generosity of participants and sponsors, the tournament raised over $37,000 this year. These funds will be dedicated to supporting contrast enhanced mammography (CEM) capabilities on Logan Health Women’s Imaging Center mammography machines, helping improve early detection and coordinated care for women in the community.

“We are so honored to be the recipients of the Swing Fore a Sister Tournament participants’ generosity,” said Dena Tomlinson, Annual Giving Coordinator at the Logan Health Foundation and Chairwoman for the Save a Sister Committee. “For 16 years, these incredible women in our community have come together through this Tournament to ensure that every woman in the Flathead Valley has access to the screening mammograms and preventive care she needs. Their commitment and actions are impactful and empowering and truly makes a difference in the lives of so many.”

With each swing and every donation, the ladies of Eagle Bend are proving that when a community comes together, incredible impact follows.
