A community of 100 golfers and 16 volunteers braved the summer heat on Saturday, July 11 at Village Greens Golf Course, raising $47,000 to benefit ALERT and the Betty Woods Emergency Services Endowment.
In a powerful display of collaboration, the Logan Health Foundation, alongside Presenting Sponsor Kalispell Toyota and the Woods family, partnered to award $17,600 in direct grants to eleven regional EMS teams. These vital funds will directly support local emergency personnel who ensure the safety and well-being of the Flathead Valley community.
The annual tournament honors Betty Ann Woods, a beloved Logan Health Medical Center employee of 28 years and a highly respected member of the Flathead Valley first-responder community. This year’s participants and volunteers united with a shared commitment to honor 20 years of her legacy while making a meaningful impact on the lives of local residents.
The profound impact of the tournament’s fundraising efforts was echoed by local emergency leaders. “Any level of support would make a meaningful impact on our department and the community we serve,” said Jared C. Lako, Fire Chief of the Hungry Horse Volunteer Fire Department. “Thank you for the continued legacy of support you provide to emergency services throughout our region.”
The following grants were awarded in Betty Wood’s honor:
$5,700 to Three Rivers EMS for page-capable radios and stretcher binder transfer devices
$3,000 to Lakeside QRU, Inc for laryngoscopes for use on frontline ambulances
$2,000 to Marion Fire Dept. for portable suction units to manage patient airways for use on frontline ambulances
$1,000 to Hungry Horse Volunteer Fire Dept. for additional EMT gear bags
$1,000 to Evergreen Fire Rescue to replace outdated responder trauma/medical bags
$1,000 to Swan Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. for stair transport chair
$1,000 to Smith Valley Fire District for cardiac monitor/defibrillator for primary transporting ambulance
$1,000 to Columbia Falls Fire Dept. for bleeding control kits for a mass casualty incident
$900 to Kalispell Fire Dept. for restraint extenders, reusable restraints and CPR supplies
$500 to Bad Rock VFD & QRU for vitals/glucose check equipment
$500 to Star Meadows Fire District for startup supplies for new fire and EMS agency west of Whitefish
