Family medicine physician Melissa Basford, MD, joined the active medical staff at Logan Health Medical Center in September 2013. She now has moved over to the Hospitalist Program and is doing locum tenens work for some of the area’s critical access hospitals. Dr. Basford received her undergraduate degree in biology from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff. Her medical degree is from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She completed her family medicine residency at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor, Maine. Dr. Basford has international experience, having worked with USAID in Kyrgyzstan, with additional experience in Ukraine and Pakistan. She has taught crevasse rescue and served as a climbing and raft guide for at-risk teens. In her personal time, Dr. Basford enjoys wilderness medicine, backcountry skiing, snowboarding, mountaineering, art and playing the harp.
