Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy “Occupation” means any activity that occupies our time. Occupational therapy helps patients achieve maximum independence in their activities of daily living, which includes dressing, bathing, toileting and self-feeding. Therapists also may address problems with cooking, shopping, finance, household tasks and hobbies. The hospital’s goal is to provide independence through exercise, functional activities, adaptive techniques or special equipment.

The occupational therapists determine patients’ abilities and limitations and work to develop all necessary skills for patients to participate in the roles and activities they find meaningful.

Occupational therapists offer:
  • One-on-one patient care
  • Splint construction/fitting
  • Edema management
  • Stroke rehabilitation
  • Sensory integration
  • Visual perceptual skills
  • Coordination skills
  • Adaptive equipment training
  • Cognitive Training
Our therapists also work closely with Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy to provide each patient with a full recovery, both mentally and physically.
