Celebrating the 100th TAVR procedure
October 31, 2018 was a big day at Rocky Mountain Heart & Lung. Providers and staff celebrated the 100th TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement) procedure. This is a minimally-invasive procedure to replace the main valve of the heart. With the use of a catheter inserted through the femoral vein, doctors move the compressed valve all the way up to the heart and expand it when its reached its proper destination.
This procedure was first performed in November of 2016 at Kalipspell Regional Healthcare with Drew Kirshner, MD, and Mayank Agrawal, MD, leading the TAVR team. Congratulations to the team at Rocky Mountain Heart & Lung and all the patients that have received this procedure to improve their health, comfort and life!
