Dr. Federico was recruited to Kalispell Regional Healthcare Surgical Specialists to expand the comprehensive thoracic malignancy program. He is board certified in both general and thoracic surgery and was an assistant professor of thoracic surgery at the Yale School of Medicine. He has extensive experience in both benign and malignant complex thoracic surgery. Dr. Federico received his bachelor’s and medical degrees from Georgetown University. He then trained in general surgery at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, followed by thoracic surgical fellowships in Bristol, England, and the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada. His background includes establishing regional lung cancer screening programs in Connecticut and he brings his experience in early detection of cancer to serve Montana. He has a professional interest in the minimally invasive management of thoracic malignancies. Dr. Federico enjoys many outdoor activities including farming, boating, fishing and hunting. He is an accomplished winemaker as well. He and his wife have five children who enjoy many of the same activities here in Montana.
