Neal Wilkinson, MD, joined Logan Health Surgical Specialists in 2014 to expand a rapidly growing complex surgical oncology practice here in Montana. Dr. Wilkinson’s surgical expertise includes the management of gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and pancreatic diseases. He received his medical degree and master's in public health from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and then completed his surgical residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Dr. Wilkinson served in the U.S. Army as a general surgeon and upon completing military service he attended a fellowship in surgical oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in New York. He was an associate professor of surgery at the University of Iowa, where he practiced surgical oncology, trained surgical residents and became involved in national cooperative group trials. He was then recruited back to Roswell Park to train surgical oncology fellows in complex gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery before coming to Montana. He is actively involved in surgical clinical research and the development of national cooperative group trials, and he has received numerous teaching awards. He is married with two children, and he and his family enjoy most winter and summer outdoor sports.
