Clinical Care

Nutrition Services

Inpatient Care

Clinical dietitians provide nutrition services on all patient care units. All patients admitted to the hospital are screened for nutritional risk. Once a patient is identified, the dietitian conducts a nutrition assessment and determines an appropriate nutrition care plan.

Nutrition status is monitored over the course of hospitalization. All patients receiving tube or intravenous feedings are monitored to ensure adequacy and to make recommendations for advancement or modification of the feeding. The dietitians attend unit rounds with the hospital staff and are involved in discharge planning.

Children and Families

Nutrition plays a key role in your child's growth and development and helps build a foundation for lifelong health and wellness. Registered dietitians work closely with your child’s medical team regarding their nutrition care, including:
  • Screening patients for nutritional risk
  • Assessing nutritional needs and developing a nutrition care plan
  • Assisting with the management of tube or intravenous nutrition support
  • Providing nutrition education to families
