- Coronary CT angiography (CCTA)
- Nuclear medicine
- Mobile mammography
- Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) for osteoporosis screening
- Positron emission tomography (PET)
- Interventional radiology
Located aboard the Winkley Women’s Center Mobile Mammography Coach, DEXA imaging measures bone density and can be useful in diagnosing osteoporosis (thinning of the bones).
DEXA is an acronym for dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. DEXA uses low-energy X-rays to measure the density of bones. When measuring bone density, the DEXA scan is usually performed on the lower spine, hip and sometimes the forearm. Different from a standard X-ray, a DEXA scan provides detailed information specific to the density of the bones and compares the results to standards set by the World Health Organization. The resulting scan is reviewed by a radiologist, who then generates a report to the ordering provider.
