Logan Health Behavioral Health Clinic - Whitefish

Our goal at Logan Health Behavioral Health Clinic - Whitefish is to restore your mental health to an optimal level and to help alleviate any symptoms that may be affecting your quality of life, satisfaction and ability to function.

Recognizing the Need

Mental illness affects us all; approximately 20 percent of people experience it at any given point in time. We all have known a family member, friend or neighbor with mental illness, whether it is anxiety, depression, ADHD or any number of other conditions. Often, the stigma associated with mental illness prevents people from seeking treatment, which usually results in a worsening of the condition. Having a mental illness is not your fault, does not define you and does not mean you are a weak person; instead, it is a group of treatable medical conditions backed by science.

Mental illness can impair your ability to function in multiple areas: with friends and family, at school or work, in your hobbies and in your passions in life. It can significantly decrease your quality of life.

Seeking Care: Psychiatry for Children, Adolescents and Adults

Logan Health Behavioral Health Clinic offers behavioral health services for all ages.

J. Douglas Muir, MD, medical director of Logan Health Behavioral Health Clinic - Whitefish, is a board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist. In evaluating patients, his goal is to develop a thorough understanding of their backgrounds, concerns, symptoms and goals, and to develop a treatment plan to help them achieve peak mental health.

Dr. Muir believes there is nothing more satisfying than to meet someone who is really struggling at home or in school, and see them work through that to flourish and grow into a better person.

How do I know if my child should see a psychiatrist?

Parents often wonder if their child’s behavior is normal for their age or if it is “just a phase” that they are going through.

Do you see big changes in your child’s level of functioning in school or at home? Is his/her mood persistently down, irritable or angry? Go with your instincts and intuition if something doesn’t feel right. If your child is struggling at home or in the school environment, it’s probably for a reason and it’s a good idea to talk to the school and get their perspective.

If the behavior is something that persists, consider consulting a psychiatrist.
