Philanthropic Initiatives

Each year the Board of Directors of the Logan Health – Whitefish Foundation works in partnership with the administration of Logan Health – Whitefish to identify major project which require philanthropic support and would benefit the broader community.  As these projects are identified, they become candidates for campaigns, or application to the Whitefish Community Foundation to be selected as a project for the Great Fish Community Challenge.

Other On-Going projects at the Logan Health – Whitefish Foundation include:

Ongoing Projects

Circle of Friends
This fund exists to provide emergency relief and support to employees in times of crisis. There is an application process and review of need. The employees themselves contribute to this fund through participation in once-a-month jeans days and payroll deductions supporting the Whitefish Foundation. The annual goal for this program is currently $5,000.

Food Rx
The Foundation supports a healthy eating initiative at the Logan Health Primary Care - Columbia Falls.  Patients who screen as “food insecure” are given the opportunity for vouchers for them and their families to access fresh fruits and vegetables at local farmers markets in CF, WF and Kalispell.
Annual Goal:  $5000

Teddy Bear Fund
A stuffed teddy bear or animal is provided to each child admitted to the hospital, or to their siblings or other youth in the facility who would benefit from the comfort of a soft stuffed animal. As the fund grows, other initiatives could be implemented related to providing comfort and care to the youth we serve in the hospital. Currently it requires about $10,000 annually to continue this program.

Planetree Healing Garden
The garden provides a number of opportunities for healthy eating, education and is a gathering place for employees and families of patients.
Annual Goal: $2,500

Care Coordination Fund
Support is provided annually to the Care Coordination team at Logan Health Whitefish and associated clinics.  Often patients being discharged are in need of medical equipment or supplies, that can be approved and funded by the Foundation.

Endowment

The Logan Health Whitefish Foundation holds their endowed funds at the Whitefish Community Foundation. Our long term goal is to increase the endowment to $1 million. Distributions from the endowment provide funding to a number of initiatives throughout the organization at the discretion of the Board of Directors of the Foundation.
