We believe that strong public schools are the foundation of our community, that access to health care is a right, and that students thrive when they at their healthiest.

That’s why we are committed to bringing health care right to our schools. Our mission is to improve the health, academics and success of Montana’s brightest future, our children. We envision a future where all students have access to the high-quality health care they deserve, without needing to leave their school campus. Logan Health proudly partners with school districts around the Flathead Valley to foster a school environment of learning, growth and wellness.

School-based health centers work to improve the health of both students and staff, increase access to health care and decrease time lost from school by providing health care in the school. We work closely with the school’s nurses, administrators, coaches and teachers to meet the unique needs of their school and community. Logan Health’s school-based health centers are similar to primary care offices—we provide preventive, acute, chronic and mental health care. Our service is not meant to replace your family’s primary care provider, it is meant to compliment the services your family doctor provides and to help those who do not have a primary care provider.

Although providing exceptional health care is an important part of our mission, you won’t just find us in our exam rooms. We will be in the stands wearing the school colors and cheering at events, sharing health information in classrooms, and passing out high-fives in the hallways. Being part of the school culture is one of the best parts of our jobs!

FAQ

Is it free?

The school-based health center will bill private insurance, Medicaid, Healthy Montana Kids and Montana Kids plus for eligible students. Parents/Guardians will be responsible for co-payments and deductibles for medical services. We are happy to assist in enrolling your child in the appropriate programs.

Will signing up for school-based health center services mean that you can’t use your family’s provider?

If you have a family provider, you may still use the school-based health center. As a parent or guardian, you may find a school-based health center appointment to be a very convenient option for your child to get medical care if they get sick or injured while at school. When we complete a physical exam or provide other services for your child, we will send the results to your family provider upon your consent.

Can I select which services my child can use at the School-based health center?

Yes. Services are listed on the consent form and there is space for you to write in which services you do not want your child to receive. The School-based health center staff will check your consent form before they see your child and will know which restrictions you have placed on your consent. All services will be provided in accordance with Montana state law.

Will my child’s medical information be kept confidential?

Your child’s medical information will be treated with strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA regulations. Please note that if your school has a school nurse, it is possible that he or she will assist the school-based health center’s medical provider during your child’s visit. Information obtained during a school-based health center visit will be kept in the patient’s medical record and is not accessible to school personnel.

Make an Appointment

We aim to make your life easier by providing convenient health care right in your school. If you would like your child to be seen, we will need you to print and complete our paperwork prior to that appointment. We invite guardians to attend their child’s appointment in person or we can assist in setting up a virtual option.
If you are an adult, please plan to arrive with enough time to complete your paperwork.

Sports Physical Clinics

Sports Physical Clinics

Logan Health doesn’t want you on the sidelines this season. All Montana student-athletes are required to receive a sports physical each year in order to participate in all school sports and many club sports. Getting an annual sports physical helps protect children from worsening injuries or illnesses during athletic activities. We recommend that you schedule sports physical appointments after May 1, so that it remains valid throughout the following school year.

Sports physicals are always available through your child’s primary care provider, or during normal appointments at the school-based health centers. Students will either need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian, or must bring a completed sports physical form signed by their parent or guardian to the appointment.
